Pierre Gagnaire set to tantalise your taste buds

21.4.2011 We are delighted to announce that Pierre Gagnaire, will be creating the evening’s menu in conjunction with the London Hilton on Park Lane team. Pierre Gagnaire is consultant chef at the five AA Rosette-awarded restaurant Sketch in Mayfair, London.

Born in 1950 in Apinac, Loire, Pierre Gagnaire has from the outset worked with food, starting out with an apprenticeship at Chez Juliette and spending his national service as cuisinier admiral cooking for the navy officers before becoming Commis at the InterContinental Hotel. After two years spent travelling the world, Pierre returned in 1976 to the "Clos Fleury", the restaurant run by his father near Saint Etienne, before opening his first solo venture in the centre of Saint Etienne in 1981. National recognition and renown soon followed, with the publication of his first book “La Cuisine Immédiate” in 1988.

In 1996 Pierre left for Paris, opening the eponymous “Pierre Gagnaire” at 6 rue Balzac which attracted international recognition. Six years later, Pierre commenced his partnership with Algerian-born restaurateur Mourad Mazouz with the opening of Sketch in London, its menu bearing the hallmark of Pierre’s creative flair, delivering a range of modern French dishes that are visually stunning, technically brilliant and bursting with remarkable flavours and textures. The previous decade has proven to be Pierre’s busiest yet, with the opening of ten further restaurants in locations as far flung as Tokyo, Hong Kong, Dubai, Seoul, Las Vegas and Moscow, and with the publication of six further books.
